The text is organized by displaying rule sections of the Alabama Rules of Professional Conduct, followed by an extensive annotation. This annotation will compare the rule section to the correlative provision found in the prior Alabama Code of Professional Responsibility and the ABA Rules of Professional Conduct. In addition, the annotation discusses court cases and ethics opinions in Alabama and elsewhere which address the provision. In the preface, the author states that he "... recognized that although law schools were doing an excellent job of teaching students to 'think' law and to recognize what is wrong with contracts, wills, property rights, and the like, students were not exposed to the actual practice and procedure in the 'average' law practice .... This book is written to acquaint law students with the everyday practice of law in the law office -- outside the court room." This book is very helpful in supplying sample forms, letters, applications, and other materials needed to practice in a given area. Also, the author includes an outline of considerations for each subject, providing cites to sections of the code and cases which are applicable. Except in the chapters of "Attorney/Client Relationships" and "Setting Up a Law Office", the author provides little detailed advice on the "how-to" aspect of a legal procedure.

ALABAMA LAW OFFICE PRACTICE DESKBOOK, 10TH ED. by Robert L. McCurley, Jr. (2007). KFA77/.M3/2007 (Reserve). In the preface, the author states that he "... recognized that although law schools were doing an excellent job of teaching students to 'think' law and to recognize what is wrong with contracts, wills, property rights, and the like, students were not exposed to the actual practice and procedure in the 'average' law practice .... This book is written to acquaint law students with the everyday practice of law in the law office -- outside the court room." This book is very helpful in supplying sample forms, letters, applications, and other materials needed to practice in a given area. Also, the author includes an outline of considerations for each subject, providing cites to sections of the code and cases which are applicable. Except in the chapters of "Attorney/Client Relationships" and "Setting Up a Law Office", the author provides little detailed advice on the "how-to" aspect of a legal procedure.
