Samford email on your cell phone

To start the process, first log in at http://bulldogmail.samford.edu

You will need to enable IMAP.  To do this, click on Settings at the top right corner of the screen. Click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP.  Under IMAP Access, click on enable. Then click Save Changes.

The next step will depend on the type of phone you have.  For iPhones, go to Settings and choose add a Gmail account under Mail, Contacts, Calendars. Enter your name, your Samford email address including @samford.edu and your password.

The incoming server is imap.gmail.com and the outgoing server is smtp.gmail.com.

Most Droid phones are able to set up Samford email using Gmail as the account type.  If not, try the app at m.google.com If it asks for server information, use imap.gmail.com for incoming and smtp.gmail.com for outgoing. SSL should be checked.

If you get a password/ID error, you will need to reset your password. Go to http://pwchange.samford.edu

Put in your username and password and click submit. Go through the questions about an alternate email address, security question, etc. When you get to the screen asking for a new password – you can enter the one you already have rather than changing it.
